Granulators in the Plastics Industry - Safe Use of
The term 'granulator' means a machine having two or more cutters attached to a rotor which is used to convert scrap thermoplastic material into a form suitable for further processing.
Granulators have caused many serious accidents in the plastics industry, largely because of poor design and maintenance. This booklet discusses the hazards granulators present to operators and shows how they can be prevented. It deals not only with mechanical hazards, but also with noise and explosion risks.
