Pesticides

These products are formulated to kill pests, so treat them with respect:- they can pack a powerful chemical punch.
If you've been using pesticides and you develop a headache, blurred vision, chest pains, vomiting, giddiness or nausea, it's likely that you're suffering from chemical poisoning. You need to get medical assistance - as soon as possible.

Before using any agricultural chemical, READ THE LABEL. This will tell you whether you're dealing with a deadly poison, a poison or a less toxic product. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS for mixing and spraying the product. Use the protective clothing and equipment recommended.

Personal hygiene is vital. Don't eat, drink or smoke while using chemicals. If you accidentally spill chemicals on any part of your body, wash immediately with soap and water.

Know the correct treatment for poisoning and have an emergency procedure to follow if a family member is poisoned by a chemical.

Follow the label instructions for storing chemicals and disposing of the empty containers.
